Frequently asked questions
Is there a specialist orthodontist in South Auckland?
Milk Orthodontics is based in Newmarket rather than South Auckland, but many families from Manukau, Papatoetoe, Manurewa and Papakura are treated with us. The Southern Motorway runs straight up, and Southern Line trains stop at Newmarket Station directly opposite the clinic, which makes visits simpler than most people expect.
How do we get to Milk from South Auckland?
By car it is one run up State Highway 1 to the Gillies Ave or Greenlane exits. By train, the Southern Line from Papakura, Manurewa and Papatoetoe stops at Newmarket Station, and the clinic is directly opposite the station entrance. Free two hour parking is available a minute away at the Nuffield Street carpark.
How often are orthodontic appointments?
After the first visits, adjustments are typically every 6 to 10 weeks. Most of the journey is simply wearing your braces or aligners between visits, so distance matters far less than families fear.
How much does orthodontic treatment cost?
At Milk, children's early treatment starts from $4,500, simple cosmetic treatment from $7,900 and comprehensive specialist treatment from $9,900, all inclusive of records, adjustment appointments, retainers and aftercare including GST. Interest free plans spread the cost to around $60 to $76 a week, with a $500 discount for paying in full and family discounts from the second family member.
Can appointments work around school?
Patient appointments run Monday to Thursday, 8:00am to 5:00pm. After school times are the most popular, so we book those ahead, and we plan your appointment schedule with school and work in mind.
Do we need a referral from our dentist?
No referral is needed, you can book directly. The first step is a free 20 minute Smile Assessment with our Treatment Coordinator, in clinic or over Zoom, and it costs nothing to get an honest answer.
