Straighten your teeth without anyone noticing
Yes, most teens can straighten their teeth without it being obvious. Clear aligners are near-invisible and removable, and tooth-coloured clear braces are far subtler than metal. As a specialist orthodontist practice we plan every case ourselves and tell you honestly which discreet option suits you. It starts with a free Smile Assessment, and treatment is from $7,900 with interest-free weekly plans.

Two ways for teens to straighten quietly
There are two genuinely discreet ways to move teeth. Both are planned by a specialist, and at your free assessment we will tell you plainly which one suits your teenager.
Clear aligners
A series of near-invisible, see-through trays worn about twenty two hours a day and swapped every week or two. They come out to eat, brush, play a wind instrument or wear a mouthguard, and most people will not know they are there. Best for a reliable teen with mild to moderate crowding or spacing.
Clear braces
Tooth-coloured brackets that blend with the teeth, far subtler than metal and fixed in place, so there is nothing to remember to wear. This includes LightForce custom clear braces, 3D-printed for each tooth. A great fit for teens who want discreet treatment without the discipline of aligners.

Confidence, without the metal-mouth
Smile through the photos
No metal-mouth in the group photos or on socials. With discreet options most people will not know your teen is in treatment at all.
Fits sport and music
Aligners come out for a mouthguard or a wind instrument, and clear braces just get on with it. Treatment slots into a busy teenage life.
A straight answer, always
As specialists we will tell you honestly whether a discreet option suits your teen, or whether braces get the better result. No overselling.
Real smiles, quietly transformed
Crowding, spacing and gaps are some of the most common things we treat, and the kind of case that suits a discreet option beautifully. Three real Milk patients, before and after.

The gap between these front teeth was wide enough to see through. It is now completely closed, with every tooth in contact.

A prominent gap between the two front teeth, closed completely, with the rest of the smile brought into line at the same time.

Small overlaps, a rotated tooth and a few small spaces, finished to the same specialist standard as our complex cases.

Common questions from teens and parents
Are invisible braces for teens really invisible?
Clear aligners come closest. They are near-invisible see-through trays that most people simply do not notice, and they come out for eating. Tooth-coloured clear braces are far more discreet than metal, but they are fixed to the teeth so they can still be seen up close. At the assessment we will show you both and be honest about how each one looks.
Can any teenager get clear aligners?
Not every teen, and it comes down to two things: the case and the commitment. Aligners work well for mild to moderate crowding and spacing, and only if they are worn around twenty two hours a day. As a specialist we will give you a straight answer about whether aligners suit your teenager, or whether clear braces would be the safer bet.
Do clear braces stain or go yellow?
The clear brackets themselves are stain-resistant and stay clear, including our custom LightForce brackets. The small ties that hold the wire can pick up colour from strongly coloured food, but they are replaced at every adjustment, so any staining is temporary. Good brushing keeps everything looking fresh.
How much do invisible braces cost for a teenager in Auckland?
As a guide, simple and cosmetic treatment starts from $7,900 and comprehensive treatment from $9,900, individually quoted after a specialist assessment. Your first visit is a free Smile Assessment and a full work-up with a written plan and exact quote is $390. Interest-free weekly payment plans are available, often around $60 to $76 a week, and we are a Southern Cross Affiliated Provider. See our pricing page for the full breakdown.
Are discreet options as effective as metal braces?
For most everyday cases, yes. Clear braces move teeth just as effectively as metal ones, and clear aligners are excellent for milder crowding and spacing. For some complex bites, traditional braces are the more reliable tool. As a specialist orthodontist, Dr Shaz chooses the appliance that will give your teenager the best result, discreet or not.
What is the best age for a teen to start?
Most teenagers are ready once the majority of their adult teeth have come through, often from around age eleven to thirteen, but it varies. The simplest way to know is a free Smile Assessment, where we check whether now is the right time to start or whether it is worth waiting a little.
